Internet Resources

American Indians of the Pacific Northwest
The collection is part of the Library of Congress American Memory project. Includes over 2,300 images and 7,700 pages of text related to the culture of the Northwest Coast and Plateau American Indians. Covers tribes from Alaska, Oregon and Washington.

Anthropology in the News
Collection of news stories and press releases related to anthropology. Maintained by the Department of Anthropology at Texas A&M University.
Some services require that you register and select a password in order to retrieve articles, but none charge a fee to retrieve these news stories.

Columbia River Basin Ethnic History Archive
The archive includes over 1,000 photographs, documents and oral history interviews relating to the history of ethnic groups living in regions of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Dates of materials range from 1860 to the 1980s.

Cornell University Library Windows on the Past, Digital Collections
Cornell University Library provides access to over forty digital collections, covering topics from various disciplines. Includes both historical and contemporary materials. A brief description of each collection is provided.

The Labyrinth: Resources for Medival Studies

Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of free electronic books (eBooks or etexts) with a collection of more than 10,000 eBooks.

Southern Oregon Digital Archives
Archive features collections on the Oregon Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion and Native American tribes. Includes Federal and State government publications on plant species and documents, books, and articles on the indigenous people of the region.

University of Oregon Libraries Digital Archives
Several historical photograph, video and document collections from various disciplines. Features a collection on television advertisement.

Virtual Religion Index
Comprehensive index of sources about or related to religion. Annotated links are divided by topic and sub-topic.

Oregon Multicultural Archives Digital Collection
The Oregon Multicultural Archives Digital Collection consists of images that document the lives and activities of ethnic minorities in Oregon. The images are drawn from the archival collections that form the Oregon Multicultural Archives. Maintained by the Oregon State University.

The Braceros Program
The 102 photographs in this collection document the activities of Oregon's Bracero workers - their cultivation and harvesting work in the fields and orchards as well as the farm labor camps in which they lived. The collection is maintained by Oregon State University.

Archaeology: a publication of the Archaeological Institute of America
This site is an online trade publication of the Archaeological Institute of America. It includes the latest news in archaeology, articles on current features, reviews and shows, interviews, and links to websites with interactive digs.

Anthropology Collection Database of the California Academy of Sciences
This site provides access to collection data housed in the Department of Anthropology, California Academy of Sciences.The database includes over 14,000 digital images of collection objects from the indigenous cultures of western North America (exclusive of Mexico), the Pacific Rim, U.S. Southwest and the Pacific Islands, basketry from California and ethnographic and archaeological materials from East Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Central and South America.

Anthropology Biography Web
This biography web has been developed by the anthropology students at Minnesota State University, Mankato as a part of their EMuseum. They provide brief descriptions of anthropologists and other scientists that have direct influence on the discipline of anthropology.
