LATE-BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

You will find weekly course updates and information at this site, as well as a few fun things.

DID YOU KNOW:
that an anagram of "twelve plus one" is "eleven plus two".

USING SPACE TO TEACH MATH:
There's a very interesting demonstration of the powers of 10 at one of the websites at Florida State University. The Java applet gives a bird's eye view of the Earth from the center of the Milky Way 10 million light years away. Then it comes closer to the earth exponentially until it is above the college and finally zeroes in on a single oak leaf where it zooms into the atomic structure.

TIMSS STUDY
Results from the TIMSS (Third International Mathematics and Science Study) can be accessed from their home page. A more user-friendly TIMSS overview can be gotten from the Math Forum.

SAMPLE PORTFOLIO: A sample portfolio which I used in a previous course can be found at http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/fac/slavitd/portfolio.html. This is purely FYI to provide you with an example of what portfolio assessment might look like.
