WELCOME!
This
course is titled "digital diversity" and will examine an important
area of
contemporary culture -- the promise and practice of online forums
in
relation to US diversity (in terms of race, ethnicity, gender,
ability,
sexuality, etc.) Much of the course will look at how
contemporary U.S. culture deals with diversity, in order for us to
define key terms and create a shared pool of knowledge about
diversity and the varieties of experiences of peoples in our society.
In this course we will work together to decide
what the ground rules are
for class discussions. In the first week, you
will negotiate with each
other a contract about learning, thinking and
responding in this course.
That contract will be posted to this web site
as a promise and a goal we
set for one another.
