Current Research

Dr. Ernst-Slavit's research is theoretically driven and involves the application of detailed and systematic methods derived from sociolinguistic and ethnographic perspectives. Her work can be organized around three main areas:

* Research on Literacy and Language in Classrooms
* Teacher Preparation for Multilingual/Multicultural Settings

* Reasearch on and Teaching of English Language Learners

Grants

Dr. Ernst-Slavit is the Director of the TEAMS (Teams in ESL for Achievement in Member Schools) grant, a 1.3 million federally funded program to enahnce the preparation of ESL teachers and school administrators in Southwest Washington.
