Biographical Information


Dr. Ernst-Slavit is a Professor of Education and the Coordinator of the ESL Program at Washington State University Vancouver.  She teaches courses in sociolinguistics, literacy, bilingual, and ESL education.   Her degrees include:

  • Ph.D. Bilingual/ESL, University of Florida
  • M.S. International Intercultural Education, Florida State University
  • B. S. Psychology, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú

She is the Director of the TEAMS project (TEAMS in ESL for Achievement in Member Schools), a Title III grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education. This program was designed to address a critical shortage of ESL teachers in the Southwest Washington area. She is a past president of WAESOL (Washington State English to Speakers of Other Languages).
