Dr. Linda (Xiaolin) Chen

Biographical Sketch

Linda (Xiaolin) Chen graduated from the Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati (UC) in March 2004. She obtained her B.S. degree in Engineering Mechanics in 1996 and M.S. degree  in Mechanical Engineering in 1999, both from Shanghai JiaoTong University (SJTU) of China. Before joining the Mechanical Engineering Program at WSU Vancouver in August 2004, she worked on a NSF-funded project at UC to develop efficient solvers for advanced material modeling and analysis. She also worked on a NASA-funded project for Comet Technology Corporation to develop fast algorithms to predict and reduce noise emissions from jet engines. Dr. Chen's research interests are in the general areas of computational mechanics, finite element and boundary element methods, modeling and characterization of advanced materials and simulations of micro-electro-mechanical systems.
