what is this course?

this is dtc 355, multimedia authoring. in this class, we'll be learning how to build attractive, functional, usable websites.

  • practical skills

    in this class, you'll learn the practical skills needed to create web pages and put them online. Over the course of the semester, in intensive lab classes, you'll learn how to code HTML (hypertext markup language) and how to implement CSS (cascading style sheets). The two projects will showcase your learning as we progress through the semester.

  • theoretical skills

    you'll also learn how to think intelligently about web design. You'll learn how writing for the web differs from other forms of writing, how the web does (or doesn't) respond to the issue of audience, and how to make your websites more usable and more accessible.

classes combine discussion and lab work, and run 12 noon to 1:15pm every monday and wednesday. here's the schedule..

there will be three assignments: a website analysis, a group site, and a creative project. here are the details..
