Seattle Homeless Group to Share Stories
Thursday, April 17, 2008, 12:00 pm
Representatives from the Women’s Housing Equality and Enhancement League (WHEEL) will speak about the potentially lethal effects of homelessness and will also discuss and read from their recently published poetry anthology, “Beloved Community,” which represents the first national effort to feature the writings of unhoused women.
Begun in 1993, WHEEL has been instrumental in pressuring the City of Seattle to respond to the growing ranks of the homeless in the city. They have successfully lobbied the city government for the creation of a memorial to the homeless who have died on the streets of Seattle.
