MESA Programs Events Southwest Washington MESA conducts three annual events for MESA students. These events allow students to acquire hands-on experience in various math, engineering and science careers, to compete in design activities and visit college campuses.
MESA students showcase their math, engineering, and science skills by participating in various design activities.
Math and Science Day is held in the autumn at the Washington State University Vancouver campus. The event promotes math and science literacy and career options. Area professionals conduct hands-on science exhibits, demonstrations, and lab activities that are innovative, interactive, and engaging for middle school students. The purpose of this event is to help our students connect math, engineering and science to their everyday lives. This event also gives our students the opportunity to envision themselves working in these careers in the future.
Summer Science & Engineering Camp students spend a week participating in hands-on learning geared toward middle and high school students which include: Materials engineering Chemistry lab Marine biology Robotics Computer game design Green science
Summer Math Scholars Program Incoming freshman participate in an intense two-week class to help them prepare for high school math. Students participate in fun, hands-on math activities in cooperative learning groups.
After school - MESA Club Throughout the year, MESA students can participate in an assortment of programs and field trips all designed to connect math and science to real-world application, and to help students envision themselves in a career in math, engineering or science. |
