Organization/Location: This position is located in the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University Vancouver.

Position Description: Under general supervision, responsible for following the requirements and specifications from Mechanical Engineering faculty to perform engineering technician work designing, developing, fabricating, modifying, assembling and repairing various mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, or microfabrication instruments, apparatus and equipment within an engineering or instructional application.

Minimum Requirements: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a machinist OR full journey status as a machinist in a union/OR four years applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate in Applied Science, four years of vocational tech schooling, and/or journeyman level experience in a conventional machine shop; OR one year experience as a technician with emphasis on cleanroom equipment and scientific instruments such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and/or atomic force microscopy (AFM). Lab experience with emphasis on lithography, thin-film deposition, and wet etching. Experience with plastics and composites, and instrumentation such as strain gauges, thermocouples or optical instrumentation.

Salary : $3,150.00

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
