Course/Program Requirements
The Field-Based Superintendent Certification Program includes a total of 24 credit hours over the two year duration. Participants will enroll in three hours of internship credit and a three credit seminar each semester for four consecutive semesters (not including summer session). The sequence of courses in which participants will enroll is as follows:
First Year - Fall semester

- EdAd 587 Seminar: Effective Leadership
First Year - Spring semester
- EdAd 590 Internship
- EdAd 587 Seminar: Social Justice
Second Year - Fall semester
- EdAd 590 Internship
- EdAd 581 Politics in Education
Second Year – Spring semester
- EdAd 590 Internship
- EdAd XXX School Superintendent
Adding the Doctor of Education degree
We also offer the Docter of Education (EdD) degree in conjunction with our Superintendent Certification program for those students who wish to advance their education further. Students who have completed the superintendent’s program can apply all of the course credits toward the EdD program of study. Adding the doctoral degree requires additional classes to total 72 credits.
