Endorsements

The Endorsement Program in the College of Education (COE) Department of Teaching and Learning (T&L) offers a number of endorsements for certified teachers to add to their credential. Use these endorsements to open new doors of opportunity for you within your school district or to help you gain employment for the first time. In addition to the traditional route of taking classes and an exam to add an endorsement, we offer the Pathway 2 alternative route.  Some of our endorsements may be obtained in conjunction with a master’s degree. Others are strictly “non-degree” endorsements.

All course work required by the College of Education must be taken for a letter grade (not pass/fail) and completed with a grade of C or better. A 2.5 minimum WSU GPA is required in the professional core in each endorsement. Fifty percent of the course work in the professional core and student teaching must be through WSU. Passage of the appropriate required state exam is also required to have the endorsement added to the teaching credential. All requirements for the endorsement must be completed within 5 years from the first endorsement class taken in the core or the student may be held responsible for new endorsement requirements. Endorsements can only be added to "endorsable" teachintg certificates. "Highly qualified" status is limited to teachers who are endorsemed in a Core Academic Subject area and is determined by the employing school district.
