In Spring 2009 the WSU College of Education (COE) received approval from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) after a thorough multi-campus review of the teacher education and continuing education programs and many individual and panel interviews involving faculty and staff for the programs.
Doctor of Education in Teacher Leadership Program Begins
In Fall 2009 WSU Vancouver Education Department began officially offering the Doctor of Education in Teacher Leadership in addition to its Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. The program is designed as a 4 year program, with 2 summer institutes at the Pullman WSU campus. Deaf Education Endorsement Program Launches
In the Fall semester of 2009 Washington State University Vancouver began to offer a three semester program leading to certification as a teacher of deaf and hard of hearing children. All coursework is online through

Language and speech development and how to develop these abilities in deaf and hard of hearing children

Practicum and student teaching in educational programs across the state
In addition to completing all coursework students will be required to pass the WEST-E test on Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children.
