The College Experience Close to Home
Washington State University (WSU) Vancouver is Southwest Washington’s destination for an awesome four-year education.
had a long list of colleges to choose from, but WSU Vancouver had everything I wanted—a beautiful campus, lots of ways to get involved, and amazing professors,” says Kyra Smith, a sophomore business administration major. “And, it’s so affordable!” It’s true: WSU Vancouver offers a world-class education at a fantastic value. Plus, instate tuition is available for many Oregon residents.
So Much to Do
More than 50 student clubs and sports. 351 scenic acres to explore. A quick trip to downtown Portland. “Every single day, there is something happening on campus,” says Kyra. “It feels like a community—you feel connected to other students. “Diversity plays a big part in making the school feel so welcoming,” she adds. “No matter what your age, race, culture, or beliefs, you’re encouraged to be yourself, while learning from others.” When you’re not busy with campus-organized activities, hang out with friends at the Firstenburg Student Commons.
Path to Success
With 18 bachelor’s degrees, 37 areas of study, and state-of-the-art classroom facilities, WSU Vancouver provides endless opportunities to jump-start your future. The 14:1 student-teacher ratio means classes are small and interactive. “Professors really go the extra mile to help you succeed,” Kyra says. “I’ve gotten so much individual attention because they really care.” More than 130 professors are PhD-credentialed, and many are experts in their field, so students are real-world ready upon graduation.
Close to Home, Far from Ordinary
“I love that I can get to campus so easily,” says Kyra, who commutes from home, “and I never feel like I’m missing out on anything.” With a bustling campus of more than 3,000 students, there are plenty of ways to engage. “WSU Vancouver was a smooth transition from high school to college,” she says. “Living at home, I save money and I’m close to family and friends. But when I’m on campus, I really feel a part of the college experience.”
