Timeline

1989: WSU formally established Washington State University Vancouver as a branch campus of the state's land-grant institution and held it's classes in Bauer Hall on the Clark College campus.

1990: The first WSU Vancouver commencement sent 38 graduates into the world with their freshly earned degrees.

1997: WSU Vancouver held its first commencement for students who attended school at the Salmon Creek campus.

2001-2: WSU Vancouver expanded greatly with the opening of the Engineering Life Science and Multimedia Classroom buildings.

2007: WSU Vancouver held a groundbreaking ceremony to begin construction on the Firstenburg Student Commons and construction began on the Undergraduate Classroom building.

2009: WSU Vancouver celebrated its 20th anniversary.

1991: The Salmon Creek site was purchased for $5.5 million as the permanent home for WSU Vancouver.

1994: The WSU Vancouver campus celebrated its groundbreaking and was dedicated on June 28, 1996.

2004: WSU Vancouver established its first independent school—the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

2006: WSU Vancouver welcomed its first freshman class.

2011: Founding Chancellor Hal Dengerink retired, was bestowed with the title Chancellor Emeritus and the Administration building was renamed the Dengerink Administration building in his honor.

2012: Emile "Mel" Netzhammer joined WSU Vancouver as its second Chancellor.
