WSU Vancouver's mission arises from both the university land-grant mission and from the goals established by the Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Washington State Legislature.

Our primary focus is to provide the citizens of southwest Washington access to high quality education. We do this in partnership with the communities we serve. The development of current and future degree programs, as well as some specific content, centers on local needs.

WSU Vancouver initiates many activities which bring the community and university together to address issues of immediate community concern. These include joint efforts with the K-12 school system, local businesses and community organizations, health and human services, and public agencies.

WSU Vancouver works closely with other colleges and universities in the region, and works in conjunction with WSU's Cooperative Extension, one of the traditional ways in which land-grant institutions address their missions.
