Great Washington ShakeOut Drill Thursday 10/18/12

Get ready to shake out

10:18 a.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 18

WSU Vancouver will participate in the Great Washington ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday. A one-minute, pre-recorded earthquake awareness message will play over the campus PA system and through phones with speakers.

The drill provides an opportunity to practice how you will drop, cover, and hold on for at least 60 seconds (the length of the drill broadcast) –

• DROP to the ground before the earthquake drops you
• Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table or against a wall with your arms covering your head/neck

HOLD ON to your shelter until the shaking stops

This Statewide Drill is designed to promote earthquake response awareness. Participation is voluntary. This drill will NOT include or recommend evacuation from buildings.
