Freshman Admission Steps
Apply Early!
Admission is offered to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority application dates are January 31 for Fall semester and November 15 for Spring semester. Applications will continue to be accepted after the priority application date on a space available basis. If you choose to attend a different semester than the one indicated on your application, you'll need to re-apply.
Provide Your Transcripts and Test Scores
Have your high school send your official transcripts and have your SAT or ACT scores sent directly from the testing agency to the Office of Admissions. Use the main WSU campus code (4705 for SAT, 4482 for ACT).
Complete the Following High School Courses, All Prerequisites for Admission
- English—four years, including at least three of composition and literature
- Mathematics—one year each of algebra 1, geometry, and advanced algebra; an additional (senior) year is recommended
- Science—two years, including one year of lab science (biology, chemistry, or physics)
- Foreign language—2 years of a single foreign language,
Native American language, or American Sign Language - Social Science—three years, including at least one year of history
- Arts—one year in fine, visual, or performing arts or an additional year of the courses listed above
If you're applying for admission directly from high school, you must maintain a satisfactory academic record and complete graduation before you enroll at the University.
Write and Deliver Your Personal Statement
WSU Vancouver would like to better understand your perspectives, contributions, qualifications and diverse talents. Please address your experience in each personal statement category, keeping in mind how you can contribute to the the future community of excellence at Washington State University Vancouver. Adhere to the following format guidelines, or submit your Personal Statement online:
- Check the accuracy of your grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Type or write your responses on sheets of 8.5“ X 11“ paper. Limit answers to 100 words per question. Double space your lines and use only one side of each sheet.
- Place your name, the date and the words “PERSONAL STATEMENT” with your WSU ID or Social Security number (SSN is optional) at the top of each page and attach the pages to your application.
Choose to Apply Online or On Paper.
- If applying electronically, you must pay your $50 (U.S.) application fee with a credit card.
- If applying on paper, print a paper version of the application
for admission from the University Web site, complete it, and return
it by mail. Remember to complete and sign the application and to
attach your application fee to the form. Make checks or money orders
payable to WSU. Return the application to the following address:
