Washington State University Vancouver is exited to announce and welcome a new employee, Tina Perez. Tina is the Campus Diversity Coordinator who comes to us from Clark College where she worked in the Advising Center.
Tina
was born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington the home of the famous onion.
She left Walla Walla to attend Albertson College of Idaho where she finished
an undergraduate degree in History. She completed her graduate degree in Latin
American and Iberian Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara,
where she focused on Chicano/Chicana representation in film as well as church
state relations in 17th century Brazil. While at UCSB she had an opportunity
to work in the Chicano Studies, Black Studies, Latin American and Iberian Studies
and Film Studies departments working as a research assistant and teaching assistant.
As Campus Diversity Coordinator, Tina will focus on student recruitment, retention and programming. Currently, she is meeting with local community college leaders and high school counselors promoting the MOSAIC fair on April 14, 2004. Her goals include strengthening community relationships as well continuing with the efforts of the Diversity Taskforce. She is energized and anxious to work with current students and faculty members to learn more about the WSU Vancouver campus as well as determine how her position can help foster growth and development. In addition to her role at WSU Vancouver, Tina is also an adjunct faculty member at Clark College, where she will teach Introduction to Cinema. She is an avid film enthusiast and looks forward to bringing an array of films to the WSU Vancouver campus.
