  Public Safety Alerts

  • (Posted 3/9/09) WSU Vancouver Public Safety is investigating two cases of theft occurring on campus since 3/3/09 involving theft of wallets from an unattended purse and a backpack. Please increase your awareness and maintain control of your property. Please be observant of suspicious circumstances involving the property of others.
Please report suspicious activity or information involving these cases to WSU Vancouver Police at 546-9001 or wsuvcops@vancouver.wsu.edu.

  • (Updated posting: 10/9/08) On Tuesday, November 18, the WSU Vancouver Dept. of Public Safety will offer campus safety training including the commercially-produced training video entitled "Shots Fired."

The video is designed to help students, staff, and faculty understand their role and options in the event of a hostile intruder or active shooter situation on campus. The video is about twenty minutes in length and will be followed by a question and answer session with Public Safety Lieutenant Dave Stephenson.

Two presentations are scheduled for Tuesday, 11/18/08, in VADM 110 (Auditorium). The first showing will be held at 2:00 p.m., followed by the question/answer session. The second showing will begin at 3:00 p.m. These presentations are open to all campus stakeholders.

For guidelines on campus safety policies and procedures, please see the "Incidents in the Classroom" information sheet for the WSU Vancouver campus or contact the office of Public Safety at wsuvcops@vancouver.wsu.edu with any questions.

  • (Posted 10/6/08) There were two recent vehicle break-ins in the campus parking lots.

Students are asked to assist Public Safety staff in reducing losses due to vehicle prowls by removing valuable items from their vehicles. In both cases, items stolen from the cars were not in plain sight and it is possible the thief may be observing victims prior to the break-ins.

In an effort to reduce thefts and provide increased security for students, officers will be increasing security patrols. Public Safety officers are also available to provide safety escorts for students and staff between campus areas and the parking lots.

If you observe suspicious activities or persons on campus or in parking lots, you are asked to notify Public Safety at (360) 546-9001, or call 911. Suspect and suspect vehicle descriptions are very helpful. The WSU Vancouver Public Safety officers can also be reached by email at wsuvcops@vancouver.wsu.edu.

Public Safety thanks you for your watchfulness and assistance.
