Human Development
Majors
Human Development degree, which includes the minors in HD, Aging, and Early Childhood, and the certificate in Aging.
Advising Process
Each new student to the program (whether transfer or hand-off from SRC) meets first with the Academic Coordinator for an orientation to the degree requirements. That meeting serves as the first departmental advising session. Every semester thereafter, the student will meet with an assigned faculty advisor. Those assignments and faculty advisor calendars are posted on the main bulletin board in Human Development during the two-week advising period each term. The advising hold is not removed until that meeting occurs.
Other Important Information
We have long had a website for advising on our main degree web link. It is designed to familiarize students with the degree requirements, internship experience, catalog and registration links and other useful resources for our majors.
Contact Information
The contact person is the Academic Coordinator, a position currently held by Jackie McReynolds. Appointments can be made with Jackie by contacting the faculty support person, Lynda Dezellem, (360) 546-9721, who keeps Jackie's calendar.

Advising Process
All new transfer students with 45 or more semester credits who have declared a major will have an individual advising/orientation appointment with an Academic Coordinator in the department. After the initial appointment, students will have the opportunity to utilize advising in the College of Liberal Arts biannually (every fall and spring semesters). We strongly recommend that you take advantage of the advising resources that will be available to you. Depending on your major, you will be able to attend group sessions or meet with your academic coordinator individually regarding course selection and progress towards degree completion.

Science Programs
Majors
B.S. in Biology
B.S. in Environmental Science
Advising Process
Science Programs has Academic Coordinators available year-round to answer questions related to our degree programs. Early in the advising process, we will work with students to develop an academic plan and timeline based on career and educational goals. In order to support student success, each student is required to attend a Science Programs advising workshop every semester; attendance at the workshop will result in release of advising holds for registration. During the workshop, students may sign up for an appointment with an Academic Coordinator for follow-up questions.
Academic Coordinators will also connect students to faculty mentors in order to explore career and research related opportunities.
In order to receive important announcements about advising, registration, workshops, internships, research opportunities, and employment, students are encouraged to subscribe to Science Programs listserv. To subscribe, go to: http://lists.vancouver.wsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/scienceprograms
Contact Information
Advising is a collaborative process and is best handled through individual appointments. All appointment scheduling is processed by the Science Programs front office. Please call 360-546-9620 to set up a time to meet with one of our Academic Coordinators.
